CL Series

The d&b audiotechnik CCL (Compact Cardioid Line Array) system is ideal for theatre and live sound reinforcement.

It brings full-bandwidth cardioid directivity, previously restricted to larger systems, into a compact, lightweight, and passive design. It solves key challenges in these environments by combining high-fidelity sound, superior stage quietness, and efficient, flexible deployment.

1. Superior Directivity Control (Less Noise)
-
Broadband Cardioid Behaviour: The CCL provides cardioid dispersion across the entire frequency range down to 62 Hz. This significantly reduces low-frequency energy from wrapping around behind the loudspeakers, resulting in "quieter stages," which is crucial for musical theatre and live bands using sensitive microphones.
-
Focused Sound: It prevents sound from bouncing off side walls and ceilings, which is essential for achieving high intelligibility in reverberant or architecturally challenging, listed theatres.
-
Reduced Feedback: The high rear rejection makes it easier to achieve higher gain-before-feedback for microphones on stage.

2. High Performance in a Small Form Factor
-
Powerful & Compact: Weighing only 17.6 kg per unit, the system is lightweight and compact, making it ideal for venues with limited rigging capacity or space constraints.
-
High-Frequency Headroom: Despite its size, the CCL delivers impressive, high-fidelity sound, often compared to larger series like V-Series, ensuring high-quality audio for audiences.

3. Efficient and Cost-Effective
-
Passive Design: The CCL is a passive 2-way system, allowing it to be driven by a single amplifier channel.
-
High Amplifier Density: Up to eight loudspeakers can be operated from one 4-channel amplifier (e.g. D25), significantly reducing the number of amplifiers needed in a touring rack or installed machine room.

4. Ideal for Theatre Workflows
-
Easy Deployment: Rigging is designed for speed and simplicity, matching the workflow familiar to d&b users.
-
Soundscape Integration: The CCL is fully compatible with d&b Soundscape, enabling immersive, object-based mixing, which is becoming standard for high-end theatrical productions.
